NSDL Prepaid Portal
The gifting experience that makes a digital wallet feel like unwrapping something real.

Overview
NSDL Payments Bank needed a consumer prepaid and digital gifting product that could compete with physical gift cards - without the plastic, the friction, or the compliance shortcuts. I designed it end-to-end on Falcon's WalletFX stack.
The problem
Prepaid issuance in India is a compliance-first, experience-last category. Gifting was bolted on as an afterthought - no personalisation, no moment, no reason to remember it happened.
Approach
- 01
Collapse the sender flow to its minimum viable path
Pick amount → personalise → pay → share. Four steps, one thread, under 60 seconds.
- 02
Design the receiver moment as the centrepiece
A card-reveal animation on redemption - the digital equivalent of tearing open an envelope. The emotional beat earns the product its word-of-mouth.
- 03
Make KYC invisible until it's unavoidable
The design steps it in only at the threshold that demands it - not at entry. Drop-off at the compliance checkpoint dropped meaningfully.
- 04
Build gifting as a system, not a one-off
Extended Tijori with a new gifting component suite. 60%+ reused across other Falcon prepaid partners.
Highlights
Outcome
Launched as NSDL Payments Bank's flagship prepaid gifting product. Delivered in 52 days end-to-end - Falcon's fastest product deployment on record in FY26. The Tijori gifting components now power multiple prepaid partners across Falcon's platform.

CASE STUDY: NSDL PREPAID PORTAL
Prepaid & Gift · Web + Mobile · 52-Day Delivery
One-line summary
End-to-end prepaid and digital gifting product for NSDL Payments Bank - from sender flow to receiver moment to RBI-compliant KYC - delivered in 52 days.
Problem
India's prepaid card category treats gifting as an afterthought. Most prepaid issuance flows are designed for operations teams, not people. Senders get a transaction confirmation. Receivers get a PIN mailer. There is no moment, no personalisation, no reason to remember it happened.
NSDL Payments Bank wanted a consumer-facing prepaid and gifting product that felt different. The challenge: make digital gifting feel emotionally real - on a regulated wallet infrastructure with mandatory KYC checkpoints.
Business and user goal
For NSDL: Launch a flagship prepaid gifting product that could compete with physical gift cards. For senders: A gift that feels personal and takes under 60 seconds to send. For receivers: A delivery moment that feels like actually receiving something.
My role
Sole designer. Owned the full consumer product: sender flow, receiver experience, KYC sequencing, card reveal animation, admin portal, and the gifting component suite in Tijori.
Constraints
RBI wallet KYC requirements at certain balance thresholds - couldn't remove, could only control timing. Target persona: first-time wallet users. 52-day delivery - Falcon's fastest product launch in FY26. New gifting components had to be reusable across future prepaid partners.
Process
Step 1: Collapse the sender flow. Pick amount → personalise → pay → share. Four steps, one thread. Step 2: Design the receiver moment first. A card-reveal animation - the digital equivalent of tearing open an envelope - as the first thing a receiver sees. Delight before function. Step 3: Place KYC at the threshold, not the entry. Contextual, with a clear explanation of why it's being asked now. Step 4: Build for reuse. Every component went into Tijori as a reusable spec. 60%+ reused across subsequent prepaid partners.
What I got wrong
First card personalisation screen had too many options - 6 themes, custom message, sender name, amount toggle. Reduced to 3 themes, one message field, removed the amount toggle. Completion rates went up.
Key design decisions
Receiver experience as the product. The send flow is a funnel; the receive moment is the product. Progressive disclosure for KYC. "You'll need to complete a quick verification to receive your full gift" - not "you must verify your identity before proceeding." Single-thread sender flow. The flow adapts in the background; the user always sees one path.
Final solution
4-step sender flow, receiver card-reveal with instant wallet credit, contextual KYC, admin portal for NSDL ops, full gifting component suite in Tijori.
Measurable impact
4 steps from intent to gift sent KYC drop-off measurably lower 60%+ of gifting components reused across other Falcon prepaid partners Delivered in 52 days - Falcon's fastest product deployment in FY26 Launched as NSDL's flagship prepaid gifting product
What I'd improve next
The post-redemption experience - closing the loop by showing the sender a summary when the gift is redeemed. That sender↔receiver connection would strengthen the social sharing dynamic significantly.
